I am entering a college university and majoring in Journalism and Creative Writing.
I meant ‘insiduous’ in the question and also, is school newspaper a good way to go?

I’ve read this somewhere but can’t remember where. First write, write and write some more. Have enough to show that you CAN actually write. Contact local papers etc. to find out if they have a need or opening and then take off! Don’t think there’s a whole lot of technicalities. You just do it. Best wishes…

The client of my temp agency has mentioned they may have work for me in another department and position, but freelance, not full-time. Another temp told me I can’t freelance for the client for at least a year. Is she mistaken?

I know temp agencies do not submit a candidate to companies where that candidate has applied within the last year. I’m just wondering if the the reverse is also true.

Illegal, no.. But you likely signed a document with the temp agency called a non-compete agreement which often have clauses included forbidding accepting a job with their clients. Taking the position could result in a breach of contract.

That doesn’t mean you can’t take the job…. Many temp agencies will work with you and the client in such a situation to arrange the employemnt through the temp agency. Talk to your temp agency advisor.
