Some advice on how to pick that new helmet.

March 242010

It can be a bit daunting when you are deciding to buy yourself a new motorcycle helmet, especially if you look at the impressive ranges of helmets that you can find nowadays.

The helmet which you end up selecting will depend on what you need it for and there is certainly a helmet out there for you to buy.

If safety is your prime concern then you have to be looking at full face helmets. These will keep your face away from the wind and your head safe in case of a crash.

However if you are thinking of getting a helmet which will provide you with style then you may want to consider a half helmet.

The MSRP Price – What It Means For You

March 232010

No doubt you already know that “MSRP” stands for Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price. (Which, by the way, makes the word “Price” of “MSRP Price” unnecessary and redundant. It is, however, often referred to this way;-)

But it’s funny how consumers are misled into thinking that the MSRP is the lowest price they can expect to pay for a new car. Those of us in the car business (and the smart consumers) know that the MSRP is most definitely NOT the lowest price you are stuck paying.

Two key words in the phrase should be ‘red flags:’ “Suggested” and “Retail.” Let’s take the first one – right off the bat it tells you the price is only a suggestion. Now the second one… When was the last time you ever paid “retail” for ANY big-ticket item?

To cut to the chase, always negotiate from the dealer’s invoice price up rather than from the MSRP down. A good rule of thumb is to offer around 1 to 2 percent above dealer invoice.

But remember that it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE for you to ever screw the dealership out of profit – no matter what deal you think you are getting. The reason is “dealer holdback” or “factory-to-dealer incentive.” This is 2-3 percent of the MSRP that is ‘held back’ by the manufacturer for every car sold to the dealer. At the end of the quarter, the dealership gets a check for all the holdback charges for each model sold.

…So go ahead and get your best deal without feeling guilty!

Used Maserati Purchase

March 202010

As anyone who is about to spend a lot of money on a big ticket item would tell you, do not just kick the tires but actually go for a ride in the car if you are interested. More specifically, drive the car down to your local mechanic that knows about the type of car that you are interested in and they can tell you if it is a good deal or not. That is exactly what I did prior to purchasing my Used Maserati. I was not about to just drive away trusting what the owner told me about the car.
