For those of you who work from home, for example, as a freelancer, how do you stay disciplined? I find it very hard to maintain a regular schedule and that I will put off projects…since they are always in the back of my mind I can’t enjoy the free time I *do* have.

Do I need to register a company name if I want to continue doing this? Do freelancers generally have to register a company name?

if in the UK, you do not need to register as a company. you do however tell HMRC you are self employed. you have the option to register a company name to stop anyone copying it, but thats about it. also, as long as you are not claiming any benefits, you are allowed to work as self employed for upto 3 months before telling HMRC, while you are setting up a business.

I was thinking of getting a part time job (16-32 hours per week) detailing cars. Trouble is, I would have to have to be trained, and also I can only work between 8:30PM and 10:00AM on days other than Sunday, as I work a day shift job (11AM-8PM). Sunday, I am off from work, so I can work any hours on that day.
most legitimate companies dont detail cars in the wee hours, so if you are lucky enough to find one that does be very suspicious, check into the company well before taking the job.
I understand the reasons for the strike, but I believe that if no solution is forthcoming soon, the networks will be forced to find other creative solutions to this problem. I guess hiring talented freelancers could be viewed as an option.
I wish they did, I have a lot of ideas for sitcoms and late night television shows.
I was wondering if you used to add the code behind in the projects that you sell to the customers or just leave the code compiled (dlls) to them in order to not expose some secret that might be in the development.

MS is one of few providers that does NOT include source code with the product (I suspect that it is mostly because it will be practically unreadable by now)…
Most of the time the source code comes with the product for maintainability…
