If you want to save on your wedding cake, then it helps to keep your design very simple. For example, simple icings, 3 layers, and plain frosting. That alone will help cut back on the cost.
But there are other ways to have simple wedding cakes on a budget. One of those ways is to have a very simple sheet cake. A regular sheet cake is allot less then a fancy wedding cake.
I have also known a few brides who hired their cake made by someone who does it as a hobby. These are usually women who do it right out of their home. They often do a really great job at it too.
