Not only would the other unions keep honoring the picket line for the WGA, but hiring scab writers would just about guarantee that the actors will strike when their contract is up in June. That would bring all TV and Movie studios down. So it's not in the studios best interests to piss off the unions like that.

If the networks hire scabs, then the actors, who are all members of the SAG (Screen Actors' Guild) would be required to honor the strikers picket lines, and refuse to appear in any scab-written episodes. The Teamsters, Pipefitters and Plumbers, Electricians, and all the other unions would also be obligated to honor the WGA picket lines, and refuse to work on any series that hire scabs.

That's what they did last time, back in 1988. The only problem is they were considered "scabs" for crossing the picket line; then when the strike was over, they lost their jobs and the original writers came back.
